Barcelona’s teenage youngster Ansu Fati scored twice in Sunday evening’s 4-0 triumph against Villarreal at the Camp Nou in the Spanish La Liga.

The game is the first competitive game for newly appointed manager Ronald Koeman and Lionel Messi’s first since he failed plot to leave the team.

It is also Barcelona’s first match this season in the league although the Spanish La Liga 2020-2021 season is already three weeks old. The delayed start was to allow the Catalunya club to have enough rest after playing in the latter stages of the UEFA Champions League last season.

The game on Sunday started on a good note for Barcelona as Ansu Fati scored in the first fifteen minutes off a Jordi Alba assist.

He added another four minutes after to make it 2-0 to Barca this time with help from Philipe Coutinho; the Brazilian failed to secure a move away from the Camp Nou despite being heavily linked to a return to the Premier League.

Ansu Fati, though couldn’t get a hat-trick which would have made him the youngest player ever to score a La Liga Hattrick, went on to win a penalty in the 30th minute with Lionel Messi scoring.

His goal makes him the second player after Cristiano Ronaldo to score a goal in one of Europe’s top five leagues in each of the last 17 seasons.

Barcelona made it 4-0 when Pau Torres turned in Lionel Messi’s cross just before half-time as the game started the 2nd half with a slower pace than the first half.

Subsequently, the game ended 4-0 with neither side adding to the scoreline from half time.

Earlier on Sunday, Atletico Madrid thrashed Granada 6-1 with former Barcelona striker Luis Suarez, despite being a substitute, scored twice and assisted once.

Suarez left Barcelona in controversial circumstances last week.
