Real Betis against Sevilla could be the first La Liga game since the league was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic in March with a June 11 date penned for the resumption.

The match which is a derby would be played behind closed doors without the fans as the Chief of La Liga Javier Tebas stated that the game would be a tribute to all those who lost their lives during the pandemic.

Meanwhile, La Liga players resumed group training of not more than 10 players last week, and Javier Tebas warned players to be careful of their actions as four players from the Sevilla team broke social gathering rules.

The four players involved includes Ever Banega, Lucas Ocampos, Franco Vazquez and Luuk de Jong who all were at a party over the weekend.

Spain has eased its strict lockdown rules, but gatherings of more than 10 people are still not allowed.

“Players are an example to society and should be careful with their actions, and I call on all footballers to not act like this. We have to be very careful because a lot of people’s jobs are at stake.” Tebas told a Spanish TV station.

He also revealed that an important aspect to returning the league is to also return to full training for the players.

“Right now that’s our main goal, and if we can achieve that, then we can start to bring forward the return of the competition. Our aim is to be able to announce the first four rounds of fixtures next week,” he was quoted on BBC.

Meanwhile, the optimism for the resumption on June 11 was facilitated by the announcement by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Saturday that gives permission for football in the country’s top two divisions to resume from June 8.
