Lazio has removed Luiz Felipe and Djavan Anderson from the Champions League squad. The Rome based team replaced the duo with Mateo Musacchio and Senad Lulic.

Luiz Felipe is currently battling a serious knee injury. This could be the reason he was removed from the squad. His return date has been reported to be several months from now.

Musacchio, who was recently signed from Milan on the deadline day is believed to have been drafted into the squad.

Lulic has returned to the squad after making a full recovery. He was out of action for almost a year.

The reason for the removal of Anderson is not far fetched. It is believed that he has not been part of coach Simone Inzaghi’s plans.

Lazio has progressed to the knockout stage of the Champions League after scaling through at the expense of Club Brugge, who they played out a 2-2 draw with.

The came second behind Borussia Dortmund in their group.

They have been drawn against defending champions, Bayern Munich. The Bundesliga champions recorded no defeat in their group games that involved actions against Atletico Madrid, RB Salzburg and Lokomotiv Moscow.

Meanwhile, some Lazio fans got the phone number of Atalanta coach, Gian Piero Gasperini and rained several insults on the tactician.

L’Eco di Bergamo newspaper reports that the number of the gaffer was leaked by someone. This is following  Lazio’s 3-1 Serie A victory in Bergamo on Sunday afternoon.  Atalanta had a few days ago had the last smile when they knocked the Biancocelesti out of the Coppa Italia.

It was gathered that Gasperini’s number was gotten by some who posted it on some forums for Lazio supporters.

Lazio is currently 6th with 37 points after 20 games. They are currently trailing the Serie A leaders AC Milan with 9 points. Only two points separate Inzaghi’s men from the UEFA Champions League places.

In other Serie A news, Juventus secured an away win over Inter Milan at the Coppa Italia. They defeated Inter by 2 goals to 1, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring twice.
