Dortmund close to signing Jude Bellingham for £20m, as Thomas Meunier joins from PSG

Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund are set to sign English wonderkid from championship side Birmingham city.

The player has been a subject of interest between various clubs in Europe, most especially EPL sides Manchester United, City, and other premier league clubs.

Jude Bellingham has been a long term target for Dortmund in recent weeks with local reports claiming the young midfielder and his father has given their word to the German side before the pandemic lockdown.

Reports in Europe have now confirmed that the yellow submarines have eventually won the race for the signature of the talented sixteen-year-old, and an announcement by the club could be made in the coming days.

Further reports have added that Dortmund will have to pay a fee in the range of £20 million for the youngster, which will serve as a form of training compensation payment instead of a transfer fee since he does not have a professional contract at the moment with his parent’s club; Birmingham City.

This transfer is a similar agreement Dortmund made with Manchester City during the transfer of Jadon Sancho back in 2017.

The midfielder who turns 17 next week has made a total of 36 appearances for Birmingham city this campaign with four goals and registered three assists. He has been one of the top.performers in the championship this season despite his age.

With his transfer imminent, he could follow the steps of his countryman Sancho and make a great impression at the club.

Dortmund seems to be intelligent in their transfer dealings as they pulled off the signing of PSG and Belgian right-back Thomas Meunier on a four-year deal. With all these signings in line, Dortmund hopes to give Bayern a chase next season.
