Duarte moves to Istanbul Basaksehir, Gomez’s future hangs in the air

AC Milan has confirmed the departure of Brazilian defender Leo Duarte to Istanbul Basaksehir on loan with an option to buy.

The centre-back joins the Turkish champions on a six-month loan deal. Before leaving the Diavolo, the 24-year-old played nine games.

It appeared that the reason for his departure is lack of game time with the Serie A leaders. Duarte, who moved to the San Siro from Flamengo in August 2019  has played just three competitive games this season for Stefano Pioli’s men.

The club in a statement confirmed that they had reached an agreement with Istanbul Basaksehir FK.

It is hoped that the 24-year-old eventually get game time and secure a permanent move to the club.

In another development, the feud between Papu Gomez and Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini seems to be hitting another level. The playmaker lashed ay the tactician on his  Instagram page.

This is a reaction to the comment made by Gasperini. The coach had said Gomez was not adapting to changes.

Gomez had already had a dressing room bust-up with the manager. This is streaming fro the transfer speculation surrounding his future. It appears the 33-year-old skipper is ready to leave the club and Inter Milan seems to be his next destination. He is therefore expected to leave La Dea during this transfer window.

Since their relationship broke down in December, Gomez has only played 37 minutes in Serie A.

Speaking with Sky Sport, Gasperini said his choice of selection is dictated by other factors that made him decide to form a different team type. He said the Argentine was suffering in the midfield. This he said made him prefer Remo Freuler, who is helping out a lot more.

He reacted by publishing stories where he highlighted some of the games he tracked back to help his team defend over the last few seasons.
