Giampaolo set up for failure at Milan – Brother

Federico Giampaolo, Marco Giampaolo’s brother, has said that AC Milan set the former Sampdoria coach up for failure.

Speaking with Calciomercato, Federico said the Milan board failed to build a team with compactibility to his characteristics for him.

Marco had during his tenure as AC Milan’s coach won three out of seven Serie A games before he was shown the door after just four months with the five-times Champions League winners.

Former AC Milan midfielder, Gennaro Gattuso, also came into the fray but was also relieved of his work. Gattuso currently manages Napoli, which has also been suffering from getting results in the league, causing the sack of Carlo Ancelotti, who manages Everton presently in England.

Speaking in defense of his brother Federico said the former Sampdoria coach deservedly went to Milan, but the board failed to sign many of the players he wanted for him. According to him, he had to do with the players he had.

Speaking further, he noted that many of the Milan players didn’t have preseason with Marco with many problems to iron out, and he needed time to bring the results they wanted.

He further noted that, to his surprise, his brother was sacked after Milan won a game away from home.

While admitting that Marco had problems with the team, he said he was almost taking them to Europe before being booted out. This Federico described an unprofessional act from the team’s management.

While noting that it is up to his brother to speak on what transpired between the two parties, Federico said they have talked about the missed opportunity. He further noted that Marco will have some things to say, but won’t do that out of respect for Milan as per his contract terms.

When asked about Marco’s future, the former Pescara forward with speculation of Turkey, Federico is sure that his brother would get an opportunity at another team, either in Italy or abroad.

He also stated that his experience at Milan would have taught him some lessons which would have a positive effect on his general understanding of the game.
