Léo Dubois wants Ligue 1 trophy

After failing to keep their 2-0 lead, Olympique Lyon suffered a 3-2 loss against Lille on their home ground.

The defeat returned Lille to the summit of the log ahead of PSG, which had won a day earlier, while Lyon dropped to the last Champions League qualifying spot fourth on 67 points, six points behind the leaders.

PSG is still gunning for the title as Mauricio Ponchentinno’s men are just a point behind Lille, while Monaco won at Angers to occupy the top spots, two points above Les Gones.

The 26-year-old, who was part of the squad that reached the semi-final of last season’s Champions League, has become an important player in the team and got his first international call-up due to his performance.

Dubois, who has never lifted a trophy, told Téléfoot he is finally hoping to eliminate this virgin record. The right-back said he often thinks about it, and he hopes to win his first trophy this year.

Being the reason he is playing football, the former Nantes player, whose club was eliminated from the Coupe de France last week by Monaco, says there is a possibility of being a Ligue 1 and the Euro championship winner season.

Speaking after, Claude Fichaux, the assistant manager of Lyon, described the outcome as terrible, adding that the players were devastated in the locker room.

He, therefore, urged the team to move on quickly as they prepare for another top match next week against Monaco. A win against them will take them to the third spot and a point above.

Michaux, who is not giving up on the Ligue 1 title yet, said beating a direct competitor can bring them back to within a point.

In a bid to avoid the same mistake, he said the match video would be watched again as the team continues to struggle to string together two very high-level halves.
