Sevilla Punished By Brilliant Haaland, As Atlético Madrid Hold Levante in La Liga

La Liga side Sevilla were dealt a huge blow in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League round of sixteen ties against the German side against Dortmund on Wednesday.

Suso gave the home side an early lead just 7 minutes into the game at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in Sevilla.

However, Mohamoud Dahoud equalized for the Germans 12 minutes later before Erling Haaland got the first of his brace in the 27th minute of the first half.

He scored the second just 3 minutes to half time to ensure an emphatic 3-1 win which gives Dortmund a huge advantage in the second leg.

The second leg comes up on the 9th of March at the Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund where Sevilla will need to score three goals without conceding to stand a chance at moving into the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

Meanwhile, Juventus lost their first leg encounter in Portugal against Porto 2-1 to set up a must-win second leg.

Federico Chiesa got the all-important away goal in the 82nd minute after Mehdi Taremi’s first-minute goal and a Moussa Marega effort in the 46th minute gave Porto a 2-0 lead.

The second leg comes up in Turin on the 9th of March.

Meanwhile, on Thursday Real Sociedad will play Manchester United in the Round 32 of the UEFA Europa League. Granada will also face Italian side Napoli while Villarreal will play RB Salzburg.

Elsewhere in the La Liga, leaders Atlético Madrid held Levante to a 1-1 draw. Enis Bardhi gave the home side the lead in the 17th minute of the first half before Marcos Llorente equalized for Diego Simeone’s in the 37th minute.

Atletico Madrid still has a game left to be played and they are still six points above Real Madrid who are second on the log.
