Bouna Sarr wants to experience Champions League football with Marseille

Despite being linked with Sevilla and Real Betis in the Spanish La Liga, Olympique Marseille defender, Bouna Sarr, is aiming to experience Champions League with the club.

Marseille has qualified for the competition after finishing second behind PSG. Lille and Rennes will join them after the league was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. The League governing body had to declare the Paris club winners on a point per match basis with ten games to go after leading the second with over 20 points.

Sarr, who is not ruling out his departure despite qualifying for the European clubs’ competition, is being monitored by some clubs with Sevilla and Betis leading the pack.

The 28-year-old right-back is still under contract with the club until 2022). Knowing fully well that he is a target for several Spanish clubs, he said he is not obsessed with leaving the club but will see how the summer transfer will go.

From his comment, he could leave the club if he gets a better offer and opportunities from other top clubs.

Sarr, in an interview with La Provence, said other factors would determine before he can decide to leave André Villas-Boas’ team. One such factor is his age. The pacy right-sided utility defender said with his age; opportunities will be scarcer in the future.

According to ‘Le Parisien,’ Sarr that has already played 178 games for Marseille, is a top target for the Spanish clubs. He has so far scored eight goals in the last five seasons with the club.

The 28-year-old joined Marseille from Metz in the 2015-16 season and had since become an integral part of the team.

Having played more games for the Ligue one club this season – 31 in all, he has scored two goals and created three assists.

According to reports, Marseille will be asking for at least 15 million Euros before they reach an agreement with any club coming for the Frenchman’s service.
